FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Flint Hills Regional Council has received a $165,000 Planning Partnership Grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) from October 2016 through March 2019. The Year 1 grant period is 18 months from October 2016 to March 2018. The Year 2 grant period is the final 12 months from April 2018 to March 2019.
The grant will be used by the Flint Hills Regional Council based on the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for the Flint Hills Region. The CEDS is used to guide regional economic and community development efforts by identifying potential growth clusters and outlining action items formulated by the Citizens Strategy Committee.
Grant funds will be used to pursue three goals that the FHRC has identified. Promoting regional economic development through workforce development support, development of the site selection tool, and coordination of regional economic development issues. The FHRC will also use the grant for support to small communities by providing services to small communities and grant writing. The final goal of the grant will be to monitor and update the CEDS.
