FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On July 9, 2015, the Army announced force structure reductions at Fort Riley, Kansas. This reduction, when combined with earlier force reductions resulted in a total loss of 2,093 personnel. The regional impact to the communities surrounding Fort Riley as a result of that reduction needed to be analyzed and understood in order to implement strategies to mitigate those impacts and plan for the future.
As a result, the Flint Hills Regional Council (FHRC) secured a $294,653 grant through the U.S. Department of Defense to perform the economic impact analysis. The Matrix Design Group was hired in March 2016 to conduct the analysis.
After months of stakeholder meetings and data gathering, the Matrix Design Group has completed the draft economic impact report and will share the findings and recommendations with the community at three upcoming public meetings.
